Visit the blog post to read about our progress on the fence and bench construction, weeding and our first spring planting on April 10, 2016.

The town of Beachwood has supplied us with compost from the recycling center and a small group of volunteers spread the “black gold” around the newly constructed raised garden beds.

Beachwood Bears are hard at work! The 5th graders have already gotten out into their outdoor classroom for hands on math! Students worked as a team and measured the garden to calculate the amount of fertilizer we will need.

Construction day, November 22, 2015, was an incredible event! Within the first 2 1/2 hours of working, the volunteer workers and parents had dug the fence post holes with the auger, set the posts and leveled them off. The garden beds were tilled up with the tilling machine and the beds were lined with concrete block.

A huge thank you to all of our parents, teachers, students & friends that came out to lend a hand or surprised us with food and drinks. Your support is always appreciated!! Our workday ended with a beautiful rainbow overhead. No doubt, it was a sign of good things to come!

We would love to see all the pictures from this work day, so if you post them to social media, please tag them with #bearscaregarden so we can see all the images you have to share!
